Nestled between seven hills of the Doubs Valley, Baume-les-Dames displays a magnificent architectural heritage. Religious buildings, Renaissance architecture, river stopovers and leisure activities (climbing, fishing, cycle tourism, hiking, etc.), the city offers a wide range of activities.

the Saint-Martin Church initially dates from the 9th century but was rebuilt between 1617 and 1621. An accident on July 14, 1920 caused the fire in its bell tower, thereby amputating its dome and its lantern which were never rebuilt. The building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1939.

One of the oldest houses in Baume-les-Dames, built in 1574, and which will undoubtedly catch your eye with its corbelled turret. You can read two inscriptions in Latin meaning "Let this house stand until the ant finishes drinking the waves of the sea and the turtle wanders the earth" and "Times are changing and we with them". Another is also found on the lintel of the door and means "Peace to this house". You can now sleep in this house because it accommodates gîtes.
