🏞️ View of the limestone lake in Holdorf The lake is a former limestone quarry, whose steep banks, wooded slopes, and often turquoise water create a charming, almost canyon-like landscape. The "Baumelbank" (a bench with a tree-like structure) offers a beautiful view of the lake from an elevated position.

✨ The village square in Langenberg is located in the Handorf-Langenberg district, which belongs to the municipality of Holdorf (Vechta district). Although the square is not always explicitly marked as a "village square" on maps, it is used by the village community as a central meeting place and event venue.

The indirect evidence of settlement continues with the megalithic tombs. The photographic, textual, and sketch documentation in the city museum primarily shows the so-called "Hünengrab" (large stone tomb) in Neuenwalde, which dates back to the Neolithic period and represents the burial site of an extended family. Moving and stacking such huge and heavy boulders reveals an extremely high level of effort, which was only undertaken because the settlements were nearby and the tomb had been occupied for generations.

The Signalberg near Damme in the Vechta district of Lower Saxony, at 146 m above sea level, is the highest elevation in the Damme Hills and the Oldenburg Münsterland region. The Signalberg rises approximately in the middle of the Damme Hills and within the Dümmer Nature Park. Its summit is located 3.7 km north-northeast of Damme, 3.8 km south of Steinfeld, and about 670 m east of the Schweizerhaus restaurant on State Road 846, which connects the two towns. The Weser-Ems watershed runs across the hill: the water of all rivers flowing eastward from it flows into the Weser via the Hunte River, and the water of streams flowing westward flows into the Ems via the Hase River. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signalberg_(Damme)

The Dammer Bergsee is a unique feature of the Dammer Hills landscape. The lake was artificially created. Iron ore was mined approximately one kilometer away between 1939 and 1967. In order to recycle the sludge produced during the processing of the iron ore, a drainless reservoir was created in 1953 as a treatment pond, today's Dammer Bergsee. As recently as the 1970s, the landscape resembled an abandoned open-cast mine more than a natural paradise. Nature has since reclaimed the area. The Dammer Bergsee has been a nature reserve since 1995. It has become a popular local recreation area for walkers, athletes, and hikers. You can easily cycle or walk around it. https://www.damme.de/Kultur-Freizeit/Freizeit/Ausflugsziele/Dammer-Bergsee/
