Unfortunately, the stairs up to the observation tower are closed. At least, that was the case today, September 17, 2025. However, I expect this closure to last longer. Nevertheless, the structure is worth seeing.

Recommendation: If you enter the castle ruins at all, only with extreme caution. Signs warn of falling rocks. The site is not secured and the slopes are steep and deep. 36 photos are definitely inappropriate

The Lock Keepers' Valley is an 8.5-kilometer-long cycle path along the Marne-Rhine Canal. It is dotted with 17 locks, now unused, which once allowed visitors to cross the threshold of the Vosges Mountains. They were replaced by the Arzviller boat lift. The small lock-keepers' houses with their pinkish plasterwork and the somewhat wild nature make the area particularly bucolic.
