The passage grave Wiemelsberger Steine (also called Ueffeln 1) is a neolithic passage grave with the Sprockhoff no. 897. It arose between 3500 and 2800 BC. and is a megalithic structure of the Funnel Beaker Culture (TBK). Neolithic monuments are expressions of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are regarded as indicators of social development. The megalithic grave near Ueffeln is of particular interest for two reasons. On the one hand, its attractive location on the edge of the forest with a wide view of the Osnabrücker Land, on the other hand, the extremely complete state of preservation of the burial chamber should be emphasized. All the capstones and supporting stones of the six-bay system are still there, only partially toppled. Extensive excavations took place as early as 1807, bringing rich finds to light: Twelve clay vessels, an ax, flint blades, arrowheads and amber beads came to light as grave goods.
