Escaladieu Abbey was a Cistercian monastery located in the town of Bonnemazon, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, in the Occitanie region. The abbey was an important stopover for all the pilgrims of Compostela who took the Chemin du Piedmont.
Mauvezin castle dominates the entire Toulouse-Bayonne road from its crenellated keep. The inner courtyard is a perfect example of medieval military architecture, in which replicas of war machines are exhibited.
Pleasant place for walking, cycling or horseback riding. The tour of the lake (9km) is signposted for pedestrians. Very nice mountain biking site. Possibility to eat at the guinguette.
