Splendid view of the Mauvezin castle.

The cycle route V81 leads in a wide arc to the north via Tarbes. We take shortcuts on beautiful roads with little traffic to get to Lourdes. Mauvezin castle dominates the entire Toulouse-Bayonne road from its crenellated keep. The inner courtyard is a perfect example of medieval military architecture, in which replicas of war machines are exhibited. You can visit the castle during your hike!

Escaladieu Abbey was a Cistercian monastery located in the town of Bonnemazon, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, in the Occitanie region. The abbey was an important stopover for all the pilgrims of Compostela who took the Chemin du Piedmont.
