Formerly an important shipping stop-off before Dublin, Maynooth Harbour is now used mostly for leisure purposes. Known locally as Dukes Harbour, it lies close to the bustling university town of Maynooth.

Monread and Nass Parks has a 2.4 km (1.5 mile) flat (ish) perimeter path, making it ideal for a leisurly stroll, jog or gentle bike ride. The park has open green areas as well as some sports facilities and formal planting.
