Beautiful, cute old town of this small town

Those who don't like the hustle and bustle at the castle can rest here before or after.

There are some benches here with great views and a touring stamp station.

The historically rich small town of Kahla lies in the scenic middle part of the Saale Valley. It is dominated by the Leuchtenburg Castle, the "Queen of the Saale Valley," and the Dohlenstein, a dominant shell limestone slope whose present shape has been shaped by several rockfalls since 1780.

Right next to the cycle path is the confluence of the Orla and Saale. There is a small hut with a table and two benches with space for about 6-8 cyclists (or hikers).

The Orla is about 35 km long and flows into the Saale here at this well-maintained place.

Entrance to the castle grounds is not cheap. But you can also look at all the exhibitions inside at the various events. The Bridge of Wishes is certainly a highlight for some people. But the history of the porcelain world is also interesting. If you don't want to go to the castle grounds, you have the opportunity to browse in the museum shop, and a small adjacent café with a great view invites you to linger or warm up. A well-developed path leads from the parking lot up to the castle. Construction work is currently taking place there. (03/2024)
