Vranken-Pommery is one of the largest champagne houses in Reims, France. It was created from the merger of Vranken and Pommery, two historic brands that were founded in 1836 and 1858. Vranken-Pommery produces various types of champagne, including the well-known Cuvée Louise and the Brut Royal. The champagne house has a unique domain in the style of an English castle, which was designed by Madame Pommery in the 19th century. The domain includes 50 hectares of land, 18 kilometers of cellars and more than 60 Gallo-Roman chalk pits. The champagne house also regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary art in its cellars. Not so pompous from the outside, we now stand in front of the Basilica of Saint-Remi. Unusually for such a building, the entrance is through the side and thus the transept. This perspective does not reveal the view into the nave. To our right is the Entombment of Christ, a reference to the Knights Templar. Standing in the nave, the galleries surround us on three levels with their arched windows. The basilica was also badly damaged in the First World War. Its origins date back to 533; there was a chapel here in which Remigius, Bishop of Reims, was buried. He once baptized King Clovis. Today the basilica is 126 meters long and the towers are 56 meters high. In the center of the Gothic choir is the tomb of Remigius, surrounded by secular and spiritual figures. Back outside, around the basilica, we now look at the facade of the nave. Our entire tour through Reims https://youtu.be/qYfh44w4WWg

For example, you can easily follow the canal to Condé-sur-Marne. There you come across the Marne Canal. You can then follow this either to the left into tranquil Chalons-sur-Marne, or to the right into lively Épernay.
