Beautiful village church

St. Anthony's Church on the upper main street was built at the same time as the Franciscan monastery and consecrated in 1664. With the secularization of the monastery, St. Anthony's Church also served secular purposes. From 1835 onward, for example, it was used as a municipal market—the name given to a grain market—and even for theater performances. This was made possible by the installation of a mezzanine in the church. Since 1921, St. Anthony's Church has once again been what it was from the beginning: a Catholic place of worship. Of particular cultural and historical value inside the church are the oil painting "Adoration of the Cross" by the Saulgau painter Johann Kaspar Koler and two oil paintings by the Asam student Jos. Great view and beautiful mountain trail to Bad Schussenried

A pillar in the mayor's office bears the carved stone inscription: "In the year 1426, the house was built, and Ulrich Kudrer was mayor and master builder." At that time, the town had around 500 inhabitants, severely humiliated people who were "dishonorable, disloyal, perjured, without rights, and convicted" if they rebelled against the harsh dictates of the Waldburg lordship. The town hall was a reaction to this oppression. It had to be large enough to coexist with the castle and the monastery. And since Ulrich Kudrer was not only a good mayor but also a brilliant planner, he succeeded in translating the citizens' needs into architecture. The town lake can be seen as Bad Waldsee's "calling card" alongside the historic old town. There has been a continuous shore path since 1952. The lake is in the middle of the town and is also used by the town's outdoor swimming pool. The town's rowing club uses it as a training water and there is also a boat rental service. The lake is owned by the town and is managed by the local fishing club.
