The parish church was first mentioned in 851, and a lot has changed since then. The architectural style of the church changed from Gothic to Baroque. It is definitely worth taking a look inside the church. Until 1788, the church was home to an Augustinian monastery, whose brothers live according to the rules of Saint Augustine.

Their striking twin towers greet you from afar and are reflected in the city lake, in the immediate vicinity of which the church was built on a gravel ridge. You will find many churches with two towers, but the angular arrangement on the magnificent west facade is rare if not unique.

It is the collegiate church of St. Peter.
The history of the church goes back to the year 851, when a parish church in Waldsee was first mentioned. In 1181 an Augustinian monastery was established at the church. Today's church was built in 1479 as a Gothic, three-aisled basilica. From 1709 both the exterior and the interior of the basilica were given a Baroque style. The nave was extended to the west from 1765 and completed with the two mighty twin towers. The monastery existed until 1788.
