Between Maschsse and Ricklingen lies the wetland. It offers resting and breeding places for many waterfowl. The site belongs to the Stadtwerke Hannover and is part of the drinking water supply.

The Ricklinger Masch used to be used to produce drinking water for the population of Hanover. This is now being done in Grasdorf and in Fuhrberg, as the development is now too close to the Ricklinger Masch and there is no longer enough infiltration area available to serve as a filter for the groundwater. Extensive forest areas are available in Fuhrberg and meadow areas in Grasdorf.

In the big city in the jungle, everything is still natural here, only not recommended in muddy weather, otherwise nice little paths, like in moor areas
