Sanremo, in addition to being a charming seaside city, is famous throughout the world for being the capital of Italian music. In fact, the important Festival is held every year in the Ariston theatre. Especially in that period, the streets of the town are adorned with many colorful and fragrant flowers.

Beautiful town with lots of steps up to the old town. Our destination today was the old town of Sanremo. And a visit to two churches. First we visited the Chiesa di Cristo Salvatore. This beautiful, small church is very impressive with its typical Russian Orthodox style. Then we went over two hills, visited the market, through many medieval alleys and up stairs to the Giardini Regina Elena lookout point. There we enjoyed the panoramic view of Sanremo and the harbor. From this park, just a few steps higher, is the church Santuario della Madonna della Costa. It towers high above the old town. This is also a very beautiful church with a magnificent ceiling and many massive statues.
