Inconceivable that these waterfalls were created by the Romans. The water is turned on and off several times a day, accompanied by loud siren sounds to help everyone get out of harm's way. Very impressive!!

Marble Falls
The Cascata delle Marmore (German marble case) is a three-piece, artificially created waterfall near Terni in the Italian region of Umbria.

The waterfall is located at the end of the river Velino. This enters with the waterfalls as a left tributary in the Nera. With a total of 165 m [1] altitude, it is not only one of the highest waterfalls in Italy, but also the highest in the world, created by man. A special vantage point is the Balcone degli Innamorati (Balcony of the Lovers), which can only be reached via a 50 m long tunnel and is located halfway. The viewpoint Specola was built in 1781 by Pope Pius VI. The water flow is not continuous. The locks are opened depending on the season only two to three times a day.

First works for the waterfalls, called Cavo Curiano, took place in 271 BC. Held by the Roman consul Manius Curius Dentatus. This changed the course of the river Velino, which previously led to swamps at Rieti.
