The Trusetal waterfall is known far beyond the borders of Thuringia.

The man-made structure was created in 1865 under the supervision of the then Specht building council. From April to the end of October, part of the Truse river is diverted through a dam below Brotterode and flows with a slight gradient along the Hübelsberg and Halbstein. Over a distance of 3.5 km, the waterfall ditch built by miners meanders naturally and harmoniously through the forest landscape.

In the beech forest of the Hühnberge, where the piles of rock from volcanic activity emerge particularly vividly and strikingly, the water rushes in three cascades, thundering 58 m deep into a collecting basin, before it is fed back into the natural course of the Truse.

You can climb the waterfall via 228 steps! Hike the waterfall moat. On the idyllic waterfall circular hiking trail, the course of the water can be followed to its source and nature can be enjoyed to the full. The Trusetal waterfall is in operation every year from Easter to the end of October. In the winter months, the water supply is turned off to prevent frost damage to the rock backdrop.

The wild and romantic waterfall was created in 1865 in front of an impressive rocky backdrop - a natural monument. From April to October, part of the Truse water is diverted through a dam. The artificially created waterfall ditch meanders 3.5 km through the forest landscape with a slight gradient. The water falls 58 meters down over three cascades into a collecting basin and then back into its actual riverbed. Visitors can climb the waterfall via 228 steps and enjoy nature to the fullest on the idyllic waterfall circular hiking trail. As a reward, a wonderful view of the Truse's V-shaped valley awaits. In 1865 the waterfall was created by Trusetal miners under the supervision of Baurat Specht. The water from the Truse below Brotterode is diverted through a dam. First of all, the 3.5 km long, artificially created waterfall ditch winds with an even, low gradient through the edge of the forest in an arc to the southwest and finally to the northwest towards the district of Laudenbach, then again approaches the actual river valley 500 m before the village in a southern curve. At the Öhmigshauk, the Trusetal waterfall falls first over two smaller falls and then over the granite rocks over 50 m into a collecting basin. The water then flows back into the Truse.
The Trusetal waterfall is only in operation from Easter to the end of October each year. In the winter months, the water supply is turned off to prevent frost damage to the rock backdrop. (... from Wiki)
