Geological natural monument "Halbstein"
Above the waterfall ditch lies the huge rock of the Halbstein. The half stone is volcanic
Origin. At the time of the Rotliegend 280 million years ago, magma from deeper layers of the earth penetrated into torn crevices. There were rock dikes.
A special feature of the Trusetal room is the so-called "mixed or compound aisles" (several
Dike rocks next to each other).
The half stone is also a mixed or combined one. Gear.
The predominant part of the rock forms a granite porphyry, on both sides a small
mighty kersantite. The adjacent rock consists of Truse valley granite.
The granite porphyry of the semi-stone is harder than the surrounding granite and therefore stands out as more striking
Rocks from its surroundings.
The name Halbstein can be traced back to the boundary between Laudenbach (now part of Trusetal) and Brotterode. The half stone forms the border. (... from information board)
