At the highest point of Passau's old town stands the magnificent cathedral, in whose interior no less than 17,974 organ pipes make up the largest cathedral organ in the world. From May to October there is a noon concert daily from 12 to 12.30.

The cathedral's interior is largely covered in scaffolding. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by 2026.
