The so-called Three Rivers Corner is the peninsula between the Danube and Inn, on which the historic core of Passau is located. It is the only place in the world where three rivers from three directions come together and continue together into the fourth: from the north the Ilz, from the west the Danube and from the south the Inn, as Danube stream they move on to the east.
At the top of the peninsula - the so-called Ortspitze - lead both the Inn and the Ilz in the Danube. The different colors (Inn: green, Ilz: black, Danube: blue) remain visible for some time and form a magnificent play of colors, whereby the green of the Inn seems to dominate. Therefore, the naming of the Danube is sometimes controversial, especially as the Inn on average more water leads, but this is due only to the annual floods occur. The Danube has a much more constant flow of water and thus leads to more water most of the time.

It is striking how strongly the green water of the Inn pushes aside the water of the Danube. In addition to the temporarily very large amount of water in the Inn, this is mainly due to the very different depths of the two waters (Inn: 1.90 meters / Danube: 6.80 meters) - "the Inn overflows the Danube".
