Weener, a state-approved resort, is often referred to as the green town of the Rheiderland. Green, lush meadows where cows graze or the long dike with sheep grazing, plus the old trees in Hessepark - there is greenery and flowers on every corner.
The idyllic old town with many houses restored according to historical models characterizes the image of the town. In the middle of it is the old harbor with its "Törfwieven". The historic Organeum, a world-famous organ training center, is also located in the old town. The organists often play small concerts in the large St. George's Church, which has one of the rare Arp Schnitger organs and was built around 1230.

It should keep emwater stalls that are more than two meters above sea level away from the city. The draft was commissioned in April 1902 by the Magistrate and completed in late 1902. He envisaged a 10m-wide security gate, a NN + 4.75m lock top, an emitter-side and a harbor-side stemming gate (Wikipedia).
