The first of the three hoe heads. After the breezy start of the ridge hike from Scheffauer to Sonneck via the Hackenkoepfe, you will be rewarded with the first summit (2,092 meters) after just a few minutes. Great view, but only to be enjoyed if you have a head for heights and are sure-footed.

The way over the ridge is breathtakingly beautiful, but not to be underestimated. Consistent climbing in the I. to II. Grade, partly only a foot-wide ridge with crash areas on both sides.
Markings are present, but partially faded and/or not entirely clear. Moving around and finding a route takes time!

Demanding, largely pathless mountain tour with short climbing sections of grade II. Surefootedness and a head for heights, as well as a feeling for the right path are essential. The route is only partially marked with very faded markings and cairns. Good physical condition is also required for the almost 4 km long ridge. It is imperative that the weather conditions are stable - never go if there is a risk of thunderstorms. A helmet is strongly recommended for the ascent or descent via the Widauersteig (from or to the Kaindlhütte) due to falling rocks.
