Some older buildings of the University of Munich are located between the Siegestor and the old town on Ludwigstrasse. The square here is called "Geschwister-Scholl-Platz" in the north and "Professor-Huber-Platz" in the south towards the English Garden. Both with a so-called Roman well.
It is worth visiting the building from the inside!

The Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (University of Munich or LMU for short) is a university in Munich. It was founded in Ingolstadt in 1472, moved to Landshut in 1800 and finally to Munich in 1826. It is named after its founder, Duke Ludwig IX. and the Bavarian King Maximilian I Joseph, who brought them to Landshut.
Over 52,000 students were enrolled in the 2019/20 winter semester. More than 750 professors teach at 18 faculties, which offer a wide range of subjects with 150 courses, including some subjects that are not otherwise offered in German-speaking countries.
The buildings are spread over several locations in the greater Munich area. Central facilities and most of the institutes are located north of the city center in Maxvorstadt in the Munich art area.
15 Nobel Prize winners worked at LMU at different stages of their scientific careers. The LMU has been funded since 2005 as part of the Excellence Initiative and Strategy of the federal and state governments.
