Eight-sided, elongated courtyard in the middle of the residence, bordered on the south side by the famous Antiquarium (ca. 1570) and structurally enclosed at the end of the 16th century.
In the center is the so-called "Wittelsbacherbrunnen" (ca. 1610 - 23) with rich figural decoration: in the center Otto I, the first Wittelsbach duke, surrounded by ancient gods who are said to personify the four most important Bavarian rivers, the Danube, Isar, Inn and Lech. (Thus also a forerunner of the magnificent fountain complex at Herrenchiemsee)
From the beginning, the courtyard formed the representative setting for courtly festivals, today there are regular concerts in the summer months. Otherwise, it is freely accessible.

One of the larger courtyards of the residence is the narrow, eight-sided Brunnenhof, which was once used as a carriage driveway. In the summer months it serves as an open-air location for the Brunnenhof concerts by various organizers. In the historic ambience, mainly classical concerts are performed, but rock and pop music also resounds through the courtyard...

The fountain consists of four lying and standing secondary figures on the edge of the basin, which are lined up around the main figure of Duke Otto I of Wittelsbach on the central pillar. For a long time it was assumed that the main figure represented Duke Theodo the Agilolfing, which is why the fountain was mistakenly called the Agilolfing fountain.[1] This main figure was cast in 1593 for the tomb of Duke Wilhelm V. The lying figures on the edge of the basin personify the main Bavarian rivers, the Danube, Lech, Isar and Inn. The smaller standing figures on the edge of the basin show the deities Ceres with ears of corn in their hair, Vulcan holding up a bundle of lightning, Neptune with the trident and Juno with the peacock, and with their attributes symbolize the four elements of earth, fire, water and air. In between there are four smaller putti and animal figures.
