On December 18, 1898, he apparently shot a particularly impressive boar here, as evidenced by a stone pillar.

The royal warden Gottfried Ungeheuer (April 7, 1844 - September 26, 1930) came to Baumholder in 1880 as district forester. His father and grandfather were foresters. A small memorial commemorates an episode in the eventful life of Gottfried Ungeheuer. In the forest "Killeres", there is a natural stone column with the inscription: "𝑯𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝑭𝑭𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑼𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒉𝒆𝒖𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑲𝒆𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒎. 𝑿𝑰𝑰 𝟏𝟖𝟗𝟖 𝑺". Now, shooting a boar is not uncommon for a ranger. It can therefore be assumed that it was a specimen of considerable, perhaps even monstrous size. Source: text information board
