The tower looks huge and is always open to visitors. The route can be strenuous from some sides. From the top, the view is great in all directions. There are also some garden benches and tables. The environment is very quiet.

A strange mountain rises in the middle of the Dammer Mountains. In ancient times, the path to Dalinghausen led through a loamy gorge on its slope. In this mountain there was a den of robbers, the traces of which can still be seen. In 1992 a new observation tower was built on the Mordkuhlenberg, from which one has a grandiose view over the area of the Dammer Mountains up to the Dümmer and with good visibility up to Osnabrück.

The approximately 20-meter-high tower was built in 1978, rebuilt after a fire in 1991 and 1992. In 2013, some parts of the tower were renovated and the panels with the legend installed.
