It is a typical karst spring with spring pot and pours at least 13, an average of 110 and a maximum of 700 liters per second. Its natural overflow is the empty source.

It is a typical karst spring with spring pot and pours at least 13, an average of 110 and a maximum of 700 liters per second. Its natural overflow is the empty source. The catchment area of the pepper source includes the mark Ochsenberg, Niesitz, Nietheim and Ebnat (district of Aalen), which are all on the Härtsfeld.
