      According to legend, a bride waited here for her groom. This one did not come and so the bride waited and waited and finally turned to stone. This can still be seen today.

        Nice resting place in the forest. You can relax on wooden benches after climbing the Brautstein mountain near Trendelburg.
        The bride stone is said to have got its name from a broken marriage vows.
        A hut offers protection when it rains. The hut is about 200 meters to the south-east on the forest path.

            The Brautstein is a 209 m high mountain in the Reinhardswald. There is a legend about the name of the mountain, which unfortunately can no longer be deciphered on site. The wooden panel is very badly weathered and the bridal stone and the rest area also appear rather unkempt.

              I was there on July 18, 2025, and a "nice resting place"? The benches don't invite you to linger. The description of the legend is barely legible. It's a shame, but if no one there cares... the congregations are all dressed in very short shirts.
