The estate dates back to the personal physician of the Danish King Christian VII. Karl Friedrich Nagel, who acquired the grounds of the former Spritzenberg in 1850 from Klünder and had the Villa Erika, a small summer residence built.
In 1888, the banker Max Schinckel bought the property and enlarged the house. His son, the merchant Joachim von Schinckel, was built in 1929 above the Villa Erika a house by Henry van der Velde, but has lost its original shape by a later conversion.
