    The staircase district in Blankenese is characterized by winding streets, beautiful houses and many steps directly on the slopes of the Elbe. Once you reach the top, the visitor is treated to a sweeping view over the Elbe. The Elbe beach invites you to take a walk. The former fishing village also has an interesting history, as it was once Danish, Austrian and Prussian.

    There are almost 5,000 steps in the entire stair district. This route alone (the beach stairs) has 170 steps.

      The Elbe suburb of Blankenese is a postcard beauty with its winding streets, small villas on the slopes of the Elbe and houses with allotment character. The buildings are often painted white and sometimes exude a Mediterranean flair. The tranquil gem in the west of Hamburg is a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the Hanseatic city. There is also a striking difference: the Süllberg and neighboring mountains are the hilliest terrain far and wide. Between the streets Am Kiekeberg and Strandweg is the Blankenese stair district with a total of almost 5,000 steps. The beach stairs alone have 170 steps. Tours with a focus on the staircase district lead past Wilhelminian style houses, the church on the market, through parks, down and up stairs.

      Anyone who climbs to the summit of the Süllberg, which is at least 72 meters high, is treated to a fantastic view of the course of the Elbe, container ships arriving and departing and the Airbus site in Finkenwerder. On the terraces of the mountain of the same name, a beer garden invites you to take a break and the Elbe beach with a fantastic backdrop invites you to take a walk after a successful descent. The Unterfeuer lighthouse located there is a popular excursion destination. Both it and the Oberfeuer lighthouse in Baurs Park can be visited. The towers serve as a guiding light line for ships traveling up the Elbe.
      The Uwe shipwreck is also located in the Elbe. It collided with two other ships in 1975 and was brought to the Falkensteiner Ufer. In addition to exploring on foot, there is also the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque idyll from the water. There are numerous providers at the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. The so-called mountain goats - agile HVV minibuses on bus line 48 - which only run in Blankenese, meander through the staircase district.
