The most well-known monument in Paris to Princess Diana is the Flame of Liberty. This gilded copper monument stands in Place Diana, near the northern end of the Pont de l’Alma. Although originally a gift to France as a symbol of Franco-American friendship, the flame has become an unofficial memorial to Princess Diana since her tragic death in 1997.

Lady Diana was in Paris on August 31, 1997, when she was killed in a car accident. The accident occurred in this tunnel. She spent the evening with Dodi Fayed, had dinner at the Ritz Hotel, and left the hotel shortly afterward to enter the Pont de l'Alma tunnel, where the accident occurred.

Drive to the Ritz Hotel: They had previously vacationed in Monte Carlo, but cut short due to the paparazzi and made a stopover in Paris.
The memorial is located on Avenue New York.

Pont de Alma is one of many bridge crossings in Paris and is also a memorial to Princess Diana, who died in a tunnel accident here in the summer of 1997. Since then, the golden flame symbol has been a focal point for tourists, who still lay flowers and texts on the marble field to express their grief. However, since the city does not like this, everything is regularly removed.
