Today's trail section "An der Lände" is reminiscent of the formerly existing "raft lands" in this area. Directly northwest under the top of the city hill, where the Danube formed a bay, lay the "raft lands". It was a port for rafts and larger ships. These raft lands were built in the correction works on the Danube in 1900/01 in the form still existing today as a bay with a stone dam to delineate against the flow of the main river.

The former rafting area served as a dock at times when people and loads were transported by ship on the Danube. Before the steamship ships were pulled upstream on ropes of horse-drawn carriages. Jodlreiter (also Schiffreiter, Was-serjodln, Reiterbuben) led and rode the draft horses of a return on the Danube and its tributaries. At Nachtbergfelsen, deep cuts from the passing ropes are still clearly visible at ground level today.
