Originally, the café-mountain restaurant "Polite" was a farmhouse and only operated as a café and restaurant in this century. After the community of heirs leased it to various tenants, the restaurant has since become known as an excursion restaurant, primarily for afternoon coffee. After the complete demolition and new construction of the restaurant in 2014, the building now has a modern substance, but with a traditional and handed-down name. In addition to the name "Polite", the location and fabulous view of the restaurant were of course retained.
Origin of name:
The house mark (two eyes) has been used since house numbers were introduced in 1785. In addition to the designation "In dr Polite" or "bum Politar", one also finds "Bolleten" and "Bolite" in old writings. 1746 the name "Buchleithe" is mentioned. This designation should also be the right one, because in the dialect Buche = Büeche means. While Leithe means slope. The house stood on a beech slope, i.e. "Buechlithe", from which the vernacular over time formed Bohlite and finally "Polite".
