The Oberjoch Pass is the second-highest road pass in the Allgäu Alps. It winds its way up from Bad Hindelang to Oberjoch via nine switchbacks, covering a good 350 meters of elevation gain over approximately seven kilometers. It's quite a climb, but it's manageable and fairly manageable, making it a great place for "pass newbies" to get a taste of the true Alpine experience. What you'll definitely get is the impressive view of the winding roads below, and Bad Hindelang, typical of a pass.

Approx. 6 km climb from Bad Hindelang. Great serpentine scooter route. Average gradient about 5% with a beautiful view over the Hindelanger valley and the surrounding mountains. At the pass, which is hardly worth seeing, you can count whether you want to go to the Tannheimer Valley to Austria or back to the Grüntensee.

Quite a busy road over the Oberjochpass. The west side with its switchbacks is more spectacular, on the east side there is a paved bike path that is good for escaping car and motorbike traffic. Coming from Unterjoch, I climbed the pass on the bike path and rolled down the serpentines to Bad Hindelang. It was really fun that way!

Unfortunately, a lot of motorcyclists who think the street is their private playground. One driver even offered me a beating because I shook my head when he drove past me with a screeching engine. Unfortunately, another road that I have crossed from my list of great routes -> never again.

A beautiful pass in the Allgäu region. It's a busy one. It's recommended to take it early in the morning or late in the evening. Personally, I use it primarily as a downhill stop after passing the Vilspass/Gaichtpass in the Tannheimer Valley.

At the summit, there's a bistro called the Kanzel, offering a beautiful panorama of the Upper Allgäu and the pass road.
