The writer Eugen Gomringer is one of the founders of "concrete poetry", an internationally oriented avant-garde movement of experimental poetry. Throughout his life he also collected numerous works of concrete art.
In the 1960s he moved to the Fichtelgebirge, where he worked for Philip Rosenthal in the Selb porcelain company for many years. In his home in Rehau, Gomringer's collectibles were made available to the public.
The former schoolhouse next to the town church became the "Kunsthaus Rehau". The artist family founded the IKKP, the Institute for Constructive Art and Concrete Poetry, there in 2000. Exhibitions are held several times a year in the house's gallery. Eugen Gomringer's unique archive is also housed there and is available to anyone interested in concrete art and literature on request.
