        On the occasion of the near-natural tourist development of the Hemmelsdorfer See, a jetty was built directly on the lake shore in the Hemmelsdorf district. The approx. 300 m long footbridge leads from the Seekoppel street to the former fish smokehouse and mostly runs directly over the water.
        Attractive rest and relaxation areas on two viewing platforms as well as various information boards about the landscape are also part of it.
        Especially in the evening at sunset, a place that lets you escape from everyday life.

          A magnificent, curved wooden walkway leads a short distance out onto the lake and back to the shore. It serves not only as a romantic walkway but also as an information point.                     First of all, the highlight name "Timmelsdorfer See" is a bit confusing, because this is the Hemmelsdorfer See.
                    The lake, which was created by Ice Age glaciers, is divided into two basins at Seagull Island. The lowest point in Germany is located in the southern lake basin at 39 meters below sea level. This was measured with state-of-the-art equipment during an excursion to Hamburg's HafenCity University in 2007.
                    The Hemmelsdorfer See is also historically significant. In the times of Napoleon a naval port was to be built in the lake and in the Second World War it was even to serve as a submarine port. How good that nothing came of it!
                    Nowadays, its use as a bathing lake is very popular, especially on hot days.
