The Farchau farm with the former paper mill from 1661, the renovated horse stable from 1928, the flat glass-roofed outbuilding in the garden and the rebuilt boathouse on the banks of the Küchensee is privately owned.

"The mill wheel is a so-called 'Dutch wheel' that was reconstructed based on a postcard from around 1900. And by a company from Thuringia that specializes in this." The reconstruction in the old sense is actually practical: A turbine inside the mill generates enough electricity to supply hot water to the entire main building.

The listed building itself was bought in 2012 and "has since been extensively renovated in close cooperation with the authorities (monument and nature conservation, water)". The restoration was very successful.

The tour around the kitchen lake is always worthwhile! The way is not too long and very varied. Partly one is only in the green with a view of the lake and then again there are small highlight points such as the Farchauer mill.

The location on the Küchensee is great. The menu includes fish and game dishes. Those who stop here should bring enough time, the dishes are freshly prepared.
