Beggar woman
The bronze sculpture "Beggar woman" by local artist Elmar Platzen dates from 2009.
It refers to a local legend from 1706 about the orphan girl Emilie, whom the pastor Binz from Usingen brought back from a trip and placed in the family of the paper miller Konrad Heytmann near Neuweilnau. Out of disappointed love for Johann, the paper miller's son, she set fire to the paper mill and fled.
30 years later, she appeared as a beggar at the door of the Heytmann paper mill. Johann, who was now the paper miller, recognized her. Then the beggar woman went out into the cold night and froze to death.

Another version differs particularly in the point of arson:
Here the old paper miller himself sets the fire to get rid of the young lady who was not of his social standing. The young woman is imprisoned guiltlessly and is only released many years later as a broken beggar.
In the winter months, a woolen Stolla warms the bronze figure.
