The Bayrhoffer Brunnen lies in the Friedwald area and is a stone-made fountain (1840), which was named after the Frankfurt painter and naturalist Wilhelm Bayrhoffer. The parish of Altweilnau uses the fountain once a year for a baptismal service in the middle of nature.

Johann Daniel Wilhelm Bayrhoffer was born on October 25, 1793 in Frankfurt am Main. He was the youngest of ten children of the book printer Johann Peter Bayrhoffer. After finishing school (probably 1809) he began an apprenticeship as a printer in his father's company. Until his death, the financial situation allowed Wilhelm Bayrhoffer to live according to his inclinations. On the one hand he was able to devote himself to his passion, landscape painting, on the other hand he traveled to different countries in Europe. After these trips, the now 42-year-old settled in the Taunus and lived from 1835 first in Altweilnau, from 1844 alternately in Lorch am Rhein and Frankfurt am Main, before finally moving to Lorch in 1848. There he died after a long illness on December 17, 1868 (the funeral took place in Frankfurt am Main). During his stay in Altweilnau, Wilhelm Bayrhoffer had shown himself to be generous by having a well built to supply the poor community with water in 1840.
