There is very good parking at the church and from there it is not far to the 🏰.
"Their roofs have crumbled and the wind blows through the halls...", that is how this castle can really be described, in the truest sense of the word 😉.
Stack is an old Low German word for border. The 🏰 was on the geographical border of the Wernigerode county. But the Stapelburg was not under a good star. Its owners were constantly suffering from acute financial difficulties and had no overdraft at the bank.
As early as 1509 it was in a very poor condition. There were constant disputes over its ownership. And the castle continued to decay.
