After the end of the Second World War and the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan, nuclear armament became symptomatic of the Cold War. How could the population be protected from this threat? The answer to this was attempted by building protective bunkers.
One of these facilities is the nuclear bunker in the main station. In addition to parts of the Nuremberg population, travelers in particular were to find protection here from an acute threat. In addition to nuclear attacks, the bunker was also intended to protect against biological and chemical attacks.

During the tour of the nuclear bunker in the main station, you will learn about the rooms and their technical facilities, which were intended to ensure the survival of around 2,300 people for a maximum of two weeks in an emergency.
