The Handwerkerhof is a kind of replica of Nuremberg in miniature. The small "town" is located in the former armory of the Königs- and Frauentorzwinger on Königstraße, directly opposite the main train station.

The Handwerkerhof was built on the occasion of Albrecht Dürer's 500th birthday. The aim was to show the guests arriving in Dürer's year 1971 a piece of historic Nuremberg in the days of the imperial city. In the "city within the city" arts and crafts, souvenirs, nostalgic toys and Nuremberg gingerbread have been offered in small replica half-timbered houses ever since. The (art) craftsmen, some of whom make their products on site, allow you to look over their shoulders at work. Two gastronomic establishments take care of your physical well-being. The name of the legendary bratwurst bell lives on in the form of an inn in the Handwerkerhof.

The Handwerkerhof Nürnberg was created in 1971 as a tourist attraction in the so-called "Waffenhof" of the Frauentor of the last Nuremberg city fortifications. It is located at the “Königstor” entrance to the old town and thus on the footpath from Nuremberg Central Station to Nuremberg's traditional tourist destinations.
