The Keukenhofbosch was formerly part of the Keukenhof estate. The Keukenhofbosch is now part of the Dutch Dunes National Park.

The forest is a varied and hilly forest area with beech, oak and coniferous trees. Woodpeckers, owls, titmice, pigeons and herons nest in the forest. At the end of the 19th century, people wanted to fell the dune forest for floriculture. Due to Count van Lynden's resistance, this plan could not be implemented. That's why we can still visit it today, in contrast to other similar forests that fell victim to tulip cultivation and the growth of cities. In spring the forest smells intensely of the surrounding hyacinth fields.

The forest was the “kitchen dune” of the castle. The proceeds, such as game, livestock, herbs and berries, were destined for the kitchen of Teylingen Castle. Hence the name Keukenhofbosch.
