Waving Wave: Art Object in the Forest by Faxe M. Müller, Art on the Spessartbogen

At the edge of the forest near Oberrodenbach, above the Naturfreundehaus (Friends of Nature House), "painted" trees are visible from a distance. Their bark is covered with small and large areas of lime paint, seemingly applied at random and without any apparent connection. A small gnome, arrows, hooks, and other graphic symbols of hiking trails add to the confusion. Their meaning remains hidden. Only as one approaches the point of central perspective (a solitary seat) do the paintings increasingly condense and overlap: The "Waving Wave" reveals itself as a coherent image, the symbols as illusion. The artwork is temporary; the painting will fade naturally over time, torn apart by the growth of the tree trunks. This process is an expression of change and transience. The "Waving Wave" encourages reflection on natural processes of decay. Perception is expanded to include the factor of time. And just like in real life, it often takes a change of perspective to recognize the (lack of) meaninglessness of current events. Contact: Faxe M.
