It was only almost 20 years ago that an abysmal dredging hole was converted into a lake biotope, which mainly serves as a resting place for migratory birds on their way south or back north. The guest list of migratory birds includes everything of rank and name, including cormorants, drums, rails, as well as many species of wild goose and more than 10 species of ducks. Ospreys have also been sighted here in rare cases.
Birds and visitors are kept at a distance by the route - a prescribed distance rule, so to speak. It is good for birds and it does not harm people.
The fish fauna in the lake also appears spectacular. Roach, carp and tench are represented as well as minnows and roaches. The voracious controller of this peaceful variety is the voracious pike. The fishing season at Ruhlsee is short. No juveniles are used.
The quiet at the lake is also impressive. A feeling of vacation spreads, there is nothing to be heard of road and motorway noise. Stress-ridden people are welcome to take a walk on their own
