The Strömsundsbron, a two-lane road bridge with two wide sidewalks, connects Strömsund across the Faxälven to Näsviken. European Route 45 leads over the bridge. It is considered the first large cable-stayed bridge in the world and was designed in an architectural competition based on ideas from Franz Dischinger. The bridge was built from 1953 to 1955 and inaugurated in 1956.
