The building from 1744 was designed by J.A. Hustin and co-financed by H.R. Rega, then rector of the KU Leuven. The aim: to create the ideal conditions for research and observation of the human body. The students sat around on the now disappeared wooden stands to be able to follow the lessons.
The style is late baroque with rococo features, as the decoration of the dome vault shows.
In addition to the theatre, there are two rooms that served as a storage and pantry. The building has been protected as a monument since 1999.

A beautiful historic orangery in the middle of the botanical garden. In winter there are countless palms and other great plants to marvel at. Should it rain in Leuven, it is also great for Unterstellen and stay.
