The stone shows a wolf's head with its tongue hanging out with the year 1847 and underneath the inscription that reads:

“Here on March 10th, 1847
the last wolf in Württ.
by Waldschütz Sorg
shot from Eibensbach.
He had in the area
over 50 sheep in one
Year torn. The wolf
is now groomed in the
State Natural History Museum
1969 "

This "Wolfstein" is located in the forest between Spielberg (district of Sachsenheim) and Cleebronn, in the "Stromberg-Heuchelberg" nature reserve, Baden-Württemberg.

In Germany there are about 30 so-called "wolf stones":
- a so-called "Wolfstein" serves as a memorial
- Such memorial stones have been erected in Germany since the 17th century
- they were built in memory of special events with wolves (e.g. hunting a wolf)
- Most of the wolf stones have an inscription with the name of the shooter, the date of the slaughter, and in some cases an image of the slain wolf carved in stone
- In more recent times, such stones serve as a reminder of the return of the wolves in Germany
