A three-dimensional tactile model made of bronze allows blind and visually impaired people to explore the Imperial Cathedral in Speyer with their hands. The 1:100 scale model stands on a pedestal on the south side of the cathedral. It is 150 by 80 centimeters in size and is intended to enable visually impaired people to feel the shapes and dimensions of the Romanesque cathedral. Sighted people can also explore areas of the cathedral that are usually not visible. The model was made by the sculptors Egbert and Felix Broerken, who already designed the tactile models of the cathedrals in Worms and Mainz.
