A copy of the Braunschweig Lion has stood on Burgplatz since 1980. But this is by no means the only replica of the Braunschweig landmark. Exact copies of the lion can be found in beautiful gardens and in front of historical walls throughout Germany. The most distant copy is in Weingarten in Baden-Württemberg, about 600 kilometers south of the Lion City. I can't explain to you why the lion has a pig's nose, a dog's mouth and human ears. Maybe it's just me who sees it that way.
