"A six-ton boulder was moved from the Weser Canal in Daverden to the slope at the Baden three-river corner of the Weser, Weser Canal and Old Aller, in order to soon announce the town's 1000th birthday."
The six-ton granite stone was recently dredged during the ongoing work to widen and deepen the lock canal between Langwedel and Baden, immediately before it flows into the Baden Weser. The chance find is therefore a very good choice as a memorial stone for the millennium anniversary of the town of Baden. The exposed spot where the Weser, the lock canal and the Old Aller flow together was chosen by the Baden Association of Clubs in consultation with the town of Achim, because many day trippers to the "Pfingstwiese" and cycle tourists on the Weser cycle path pass by here.

Baden is first mentioned in the history of the Archbishopric of Hamburg, which was written by the Bremen cathedral clerk Adam von Bremen. Archbishop Unwan - probably at the beginning of his term of office in 1013 - transferred the income from the royal court of Botegun to the Bremen clergy as thanks for his appointment as archbishop. In 1168, Count Gunzelin I (Schwerin) received Baden (Bodegen) as a fief from Henry the Lion in return for the order to march with an army against the Archbishop of Bremen. In the 13th century, Baden was the central location of the Baden obedience of the Bremen cathedral chapter. In the 16th century, Baden consisted of the three noble estates of Holzbaden, Wasserbaden and Ruschbaden.

Baden was a rural village for centuries: in 1885, 897 inhabitants (170 families) lived here in 152 residential buildings. That changed in the 19th century. In 1820, the Bremen-Verden road leading through the town was paved and in the 1830s the right bank of the Weser was removed and terraced. In 1894 a dairy was set up, in 1899 a railway station was built, in 1902 a post office was opened and in 1914 Baden received electricity. At that time Baden and the Baden mountains were a popular destination, especially for Bremen residents.
