Nordby was voted Denmark's best preserved village in 1990.

This is because many of the original half-timbered farmhouses have been preserved, although farms have been moved to the fields as part of an agrarian reform.

The squiggly paths that lie in a circle around the large extinguishing water pond in the center of the village also help to preserve the impression of an original city.

Near the pond there is a belfry - in the place where the farm owners used to meet for village meetings. Today, sunrise and sunset are still accompanied by the bells of the tower as the church is out of earshot.

Opposite the belfry stands the village's old maypole, and in the building behind it are the post office, library and parish exhibition.

Walking through the village you will definitely see the old town well with its red painted woodwork and lifting wheel. Take a look down the well shaft and marvel at the impressive stone sides.
